As I understand the best age verification processes are third-party app/info services. That is, you prove your age to some third party, all they have is your name and that you’re above a certain age. That way you’re not giving your information to every company. And, if the ID company is hacked, the hackers don’t get anything but the fact that you’re older than a certain number.

First I completely agree with John on the fact that we need to parent our kids, not the tech companies. Dads need to be Dads and protect their own kids from intruders into our homes, including digital ones. For what it is worth my kids don't have personal screens and they are pretty happy and well adjusted. I don't worry about my kids on their phones at night - because we didn't give into the marketing team at Apple that decided kids should have them.

You say "Screen time’s a plague. I hate it." Then end it in your house. Time for the adults to start being in charge again.
