I don't follow your line of thinking. Christianity gave rise the very notion of the secular, as Tom Holland notes in his incredible book Dominion. Our founders were BOTH overwhelmingly Christian AND saw government as being best designed to protect the rights of all people.
Multiple things can be true at the same time: universal human equality in dignity (And thus under the law) can be rooted in Christian theology... AND the coercive power of government can have nothing to do with one's faith practice, because moral choice must be voluntary to be valid.
The fact that some kids at a TPUSA event are confused here just proves we have ongoing work to do in civics education AND proper Christian theology.
