Bullcrap. You needed a sponsor and there were no welfare programs in the early 1900's. Not to mention the SETTLERS had to fight off all sorts of dangers to establish America including the violent Indians (Jamestown Massacre anyone?).

I'm sick of this Howard Zinn communist lie that we were built by slaves on stolen land and we're all somehow the same as the grifting illegals who cross our border and fly their flag above ours.

We've been an EXTREMELY generous country including taking the Stars and Stripes down in Mexico City, withdrawing from the northern half of Mexico, PAYING THEM FOR FOR THEIR LAND IN THE WESTERN U.S. (see Mexican Cession) and GRANTING ALL MEXICANS IN THE WESTERN U.S. AT THE TIME FULL CITIZENSHIP after a way MEXICO STARTED over our southern border after they asked for our help to settle Texas since the Indians were too violent for them to handle.

Enough.

This is the greatest country in the world. If people don't like it, they are free to leave and enjoy the darkness of, say. North Korea our the dependence of the EU.

MAGA.

God bless you and yours.

Yes, we KNOW your great-grandparents came from Italy. It's been at least six hours since you told us... Please, ENOUGH!

But here's the thing. First of all, you have 8 great-grandparents and it's highly unlikely they all came from Italy so stop acting like your entire family was replanted from one garden to another. Second, they came from a country that could figure out indoor plumbing and, eventually, 24/7 electricity. When they left, Italy had an outstanding record of societal achievement and was part of the larger cultural West.

95% of today's immigrants come from cultures that...are dysfunctional enough to produce 95% of our immigrants. That' a problem, almost as much of a problem as people who should know better getting teary-eyed over all immigration just because somebody a couple of branches back on the family tree came from Italy.

The US is the third-most populous country on the planet - why do we need more immigration at all? Does India need more? China? Why us?

What may have worked for us, in some cases, decades ago, doesn't necessarily work today.
